Bits and Bobs – 4

This is another piece executed on a 6″ by 6″ birch plywood panel. I didn’t cropped the jpeg closely as I wanted to include a shadow that shows a bit of the depth created by the 1.5″ basswood frame the board is mounted on. I sealed the panel with 2 coats of matt medium to help prevent pigment bleeding as the composition is very busy and I wanted to reduce any opportunities to add more complexities to image.

    1. I think of every piece as a learning experience Sheldon. It’s humbling to acknowledge my limitations but also heartening when I’m able to find a way to learn to work around or through them. Thanks for your feedback.

    1. This is only the second time I’ve worked with it but I really am enjoying the whole new element the plywood brings to a piece. There are challenges (like with any material) but I think the great thing about it, is that (natural) wood evokes a specific response with anyone who sees it having a personal association.
